Nagios is a comprehensive monitoring system much like Big Brother, However, the initial installation and setup require the skills of an experienced systems administrator. After getting the Nagios core installed, you'll have to configure it to monitor your servers and devices. Don't get discouraged when you see the numerous configuration files, I did mention that the skills of an experienced systems administrator are required...
